Oceanic (Remastered)

Dustfan While the previous album, Celestial, hinted at the style that would come to be known as post-metal, Oceanic fully embraces that style and is therefore considered by many to be the first "proper" post-metal album. Whether that's true or not, I'm really not qualified to say. However, this is a widely influential album for many post-metal bands and for me personally it represents the pinnacle of ISIS' output, along with Celestial (including the SGNL>05 EP). Favorite track: False Light.

Dillon Ethier A classic post-metal album, pure brilliance. Favorite track: Weight.

Greg Majewski [The remaster of] Oceanic might as well be a different album, and I say that with full knowledge that it was already the best mixed and mastered album in Isis’ catalog. Aaron Turner’s vocals are noticeably more prominent, the spacing in the guitars is more dynamic, and don’t even get me started on Aaron Harris’ drums.
